Mommy Burn-Out Part 2
There is no doubt that parenting is the biggest full-time job there is. You are the bottom line of responsibility and that can be a difficult weight to carry – especially when you’re up at 4:00 am for the fourth night in a row with a child who is hacking and coughing and you know you have to be up at 6:30 for work. There are some things that you can do to help maintain your energy level and bolster the reserves, but don’t forget the basics like making time to sleep and actually eating real meals. Mommy Burn-Out… Eek!
I am honestly awe-struck by how well Laura juggles the responsibility of a full-time career and three busy kiddos at home, and I’d like to share some of the things that I observed in her that I think would be useful for the other mommies I see. Don’t worry, my next post will also be health-related things you can try, not just parenting things. Mostly I want to say bless your hearts – it truly takes a special person to be a great parent. We all have the mechanical equipment necessary to create a child, but I think very few people have the grace and strength to actually parent that child well. I can see my patients making excuses for not exercising when they’re trying to lose weight because they are afraid of failing.
